Michael Lyle is the author of the poetry chapbook  The Everywhere of Light (Plan B Press, 2018), now in its second printing. Individual poems have appeared in Atlanta Review, The Carolina Quarterly, Crannóg, The Hollins Critic, Mudfish, Plainsongs, Poetry East and many other magazines and journals.

Michael’s poem “Pandemic Snow” is part of the Ohio State University “Dwelling During the Pandemic Poetry Project,” his poem “They Didn’t Know How Hungry They Were” is featured in the recently published book  Holy Disruption, by Amy Butler and Dawn Darwin Weaks, https://chalicepress.com, and his poems have made the long list for the Fish Publishing International Poetry Prize (Cork, Ireland) in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

His creative nonfiction has appeared in Foreshadow, Rock & Sling and The Roanoke Rambler.  Three of Michael’s essays were winners of The Buechner Narrative Writing Project and published in The Christian Century.

In 2005, he published Gathered Stones, Divine Encounters in Everyday Life, a book of true stories from his early years in ordained ministry, one of which was published in 2007 in the Guideposts book Miracles. Three of his sermons were published in the Minister’s Annual by Abingdon Press.

Michael earned his B.A. at Emory & Henry College, M.A. at Wake Forest University, and M.Div. and D.Min. degrees from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.

His Doctor of Ministry focused on the life of faith in multicultural contexts. He studied at seminaries in Washington, D.C., Sweden and Germany and lives in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains after careers as a TV Producer/Director, an English teacher and an ordained minister.
